While we say 'wall' in this advice, this can refer to anything from a real wall to an art easel to an A-frame to slim pillar to a real wall.
The objective is to bring warmth to the business by sharing photos of your customers engaged with products you sell or with things that relate to products you sell.
Photo walls are popular in retail overseas because it humanises the shop, makes it ore local, more shopper connected and less about sell, sell, sell!
It is easy to do, low cost and can make good use of an otherwise dead or challenged space in the shop.
A photo wall also provides good social media content that you can leverage to attract shoppers into the business.
Do not overthink this idea. Set up the space, get started with a theme. Run it for a month. Take it down and do another.
Either invite shoppers to provide photos or have a polaroid or Instax camera in-store to take photos immediately.
Note: when you put a photo up, provide context like a name or something else that adds value to the photo.
Here are photo wall theme ideas - written as the label you would put at the top of the PHOTO WALL:
- Any customer with a purchase.
- Jigsaws completed.
- People and their pets.
- Local community events.
- Meals cooked from recipes in magazines.
- Mums on Mother's Day.
- Dads on Father's Day.
- The BEST halloween costumes.
- Local heroes.
- Local sights we all love.
- Grandparents!
- Kid art.
- Retiree art.
- This is not a definitive list. It is designed to get you thinking.
Make sure all team members know about the wall and what you want on there. If you have a camera in-store, train them on its use for the best shots.
Remember, this is about bringing a personal touch to the business and through this warmth.
