It retail as in any business it is easy to focus on the negative. Do this too often and the negative becomes the narrative of the business. This is especially true about customer stories.
We urge you to shine a light on good customer stories. Do this by structuring the sharing of good stories. Here are some examples of how you could do this...
- At a staff team meeting. Ask ask participant to share a recent good story.
- On a good story wall in the back office. Ask team members to write their good story on the wall.
- On the shop floor. Encourage team members to openly share good customer stories with colleagues as the day unfolds.
- On your business Facebook page, in a post where you express gratefulness for customers and the story you then share in particular.
- On your private staff Facebook page.
Systemise it so sharing good stories is part of how you run your business.
It helps team members enjoy working in the business more.
It helps you feel better about the business.
It distracts you and others from negative stories, which can be destructive.
It can encourage you and others to do good things that you know will result in good customer stories.
