An effective display is one that is commercially successful for the business. That is, it attracts shoppers to the business and / or sells products.
- Create a display that is focussed. That is, it displays a single product or single category or product of offers products for a single purpose. DO NOT do a shelf or two of one range or category and another shelf or two of another range or category as this is less likely to be noticed.
- Keep it simple, uncluttered.
- Have the product that you want noticed the most in the best location, at the heart of the display. Build out from there.
- Keep space clear around - on either side, above and below. This helps the display get noticed.
- Be bold. make sure your statement is easily seen from a distance, outside the shop.
A focussed display could pitch a single product, a category or products that target a gift recipient demographic: kids, teens, young families, grandparents, a colour, a special interest.
The absolute key is that everything on the display makes sense being there.
