The weeks between Mother's Day and Father's Day, can be challenging for any retailer. Our advice is to create excitement for your business.
- Engage with new product opportunities. Make your shop look and feel different. Differentiating product that you do not to spend big on to leverage.
- Host an in-store event once each month to attract new shoppers.
- Left field events. Host an event one night at close that sounds like a crazy idea for your business, one not connected with actually selling anything: Karaoke, yoga, open mic comedy, open mike for local singer / songwriters, poetry slam, local storytellers, masterclass in how to knit or crochet, masterclass in how to paint, masterclass in writing fiction.
- Launch new lines at the front of the store.
- Embrace first communion, confirmation and broader religious seasons.
- Run a June is Jigsaw month opportunity. No discounting. It is a reason to pitch jigsaws front of store.
- Games. Focus on games as it is winter and a time when people are more likely to be indoors.
- Toys. Consider a toys focus a month or two ahead of the traditional K-Mart, Target and others toy sales.
- Collectors. Bring together a pitch of all things collectors.
- Christmas in July. A terrific reason for a clearance sale.
- Home makeover. Bring together homewares products with Home beautiful and other home fashion magazines and offer people suggestions on a home decor reset.
