Powells bookshop in Portland Oregon is the second largest bookshop in the world. It is spread over several levels and offers books for all interests and tastes.
Even though this shop is large, their in-store engagement is smart and very small business like.
The best way to share the ideas I saw at Powells is to show them in the form of photos. I took the photos in mid April 2017, when I visited the business. I share them here with permission.
What I liked most about the business is the clear zoning and their use of shoppers to endorse books. Look especially at endorsements by kids. I love this idea. Also look at the reading clubs and activities they run too.
